| Welcome
to High Tech High’s College Advising Website,
With each passing year
admissions is becoming more selective with colleges in every tier.
Therefore, in depth and personalized college advising for students
who are seeking to further their education is needed more than
ever. Additionally as studies reveal, one of the most stressful
things that high school students worry about is what they are
going to do after high school. The primary role of the college
advising department at High Tech High is ultimately to decrease
this anxiety and to help the students of our community plan for
their future and navigate through the rough waters of college
admissions.
Although this website is a good resource and will provide a wealth
of information, this site should be used only as a supplement
to the individual guidance and personal attention that is given
to the students and families of High Tech High. If personal contact
with the Director of College Advising has not yet been made please
feel free to call the number listed below to set up an appointment
if desired.
Please make note that there are the links for each individual
grade levels under the High School Info(rmation) Link at the top
of each screen. That section provides a brief overview of some
of the topics that should be discussed at each grade level pertaining
to preparation for college and the college application process.
Within the high school information area of the site there is a
link at the top of the screen (Resources to Print) that goes to
the High Tech High College Planning Guide. it is made available
in PDF format for printing. This is a detailed guide for students
that will be helpful as they embark upon the college selection
and application process. Many references to this College Planning
Guide will be made throughout this website and in individual discussions
with the student so it is recommended that every High Tech High
student have one available to them at all times.
Additionally, the College Advising Department’s official
list of events is available on this site. There are several parent
nights pertaining to each grade level hosted by the College Advising
Department throughout the year. Furthermore, there is a Financial
Aid Night in January and an Alumni College Night in June that
all are welcomed to attend. Information such as dates and times
when college admissions counselors will be visiting High Tech
High and deadlines for college applications and scholarship applications
will also be listed. This is a webpage that should be checked
regularly.
Last but certainly not least; High Tech High proudly makes available
a list of colleges to where students of each class have been accepted.
The selections begin with the class of 2003 where our first class
of 49 students was accepted into 54 different colleges covering
16 states.
On behalf of the College
Advising Department and the entire High Tech High staff, I hope
this website proves to be informative and of great use. Thank
you for visiting.
Sincerely,
Chris S. White
Director of College Advising
